Summer Shorts – Get involved!

Have you had some experience at SLT but are yet to try directing? Have you ever thought, I would have got an actor to do something differently? Do you feel you might have the creative vision to take words from a page and bring them to life in an impactful way? Or, perhaps you’re a previous director who didn’t submit for 2025, looking for an outlet for your directing talents. Whatever your directing motivation the Summer Shorts could be the opportunity you have been looking for.

We’re looking for a crowd of directors to volunteer to bring the SLT short plays – currently being written – to the stage. If selected, you would be allocated (with consultation) one of our winning scripts to take on from rehearsals which will start May/June, through to the Summer Shorts show in mid-August, *without* the 3-times-a-week for 10 weeks commitment of a full SLT show. If you’re eager to get a taste of what to expect, there will be a table-read of shortlisted scripts, open to all members, in the Members Bar on Monday 5 May, 2025 from 3pm. Also get in touch if you are interested in collaborating on the production in a backstage role.
