Good Ship Ahoy! Comedy at SLT Fire Station

31 Oct 24

SLT once again welcomes Good Ship Comedy on Saturday 16 November

Founded in Kilburn, migrated to Camden Town and now firmly established south of the river to the SLT Fire Station West Norwood, Good Ship Comedy is your friendly neighbourhood comedy club.

For the past fifteen years it’s featured some of the finest comics from the UK and international festival circuit including Mark Thomas, Josh Widdicombe, Sara Pascoe, Paul Sinha, Alasdair Beckett-King, Nish Kumar, Rich Hall, Katherine Ryan and many, many more, all presented by resident compere and local resident, Ben Van der Velde. “The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post

Ben introduces the November show:

“I’m always bowled over by the warmly partisan and loyal community at the South London Theatre. They outdid themselves during last month’s Choose SE27 Comedy Festival (we’ll be back for more next year, don’t worry!) .

On November 16th we’re signing off for the year with a triple-headliner show. Top of the bill is computer nerd, global traveller, award-winner and liver of a life less ordinary Olga Koch. She’s just released a new series on Radio 4 and has also appeared on Live at the Apollo and QI. She’s joined by the only blind, accordion-playing folk singer on the comedy circuit – David Eagle. Obviously David is one of a kind – but he’s no token. He’s supremely funny, wonderfully sinister and I’m completely biased, since I directed his award-winning show at the Fringe this summer.

Last up is Esther Manito, an Essex girl by way of Gateshead and Lebanon. No one in the country creates comedy from the impotent fury of parenthood better than Esther. She’s endlessly funny and has audiences eating out the palm of her hand.

It’s going to be a terrific send-off for 2024. Hope to see you there!”
