It’s St. George's Day, the morning of the local county fair, Johnny "Rooster" Byron, a charismatic waster and modern-day Pied Piper, is a wanted man. The council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, his young son wants him to take him to the fair, local thugs want to give him a serious kicking, and a motley crew of mates and hangers on want his ample supply of drugs and alcohol.
The play includes scenes of violence, strong language, drug and alcohol abuse. Please consider the themes when considering auditioning. We are a voluntary group and where we aim to support all participants, we are limited in time and expertise for any issues that may cause you distress or upset. Characters with an (S) next them will need to be willing to smoke.
The play is set in the West Country.

NON-MEMBERS
Applications are now closed for non-members. Please check our website for future opportunities in other productions. Sorry for any disappointment.
CURRENT MEMBERS
All current members will be able to attend the in-person auditions. Current members complete this form HERE. In-person auditions will take place on 21st January at 10am, 22nd January at 8pm and possibly the 23rd January at 8pm. Audition pieces will be sent once you have confirmed attendance and your part preferences. Please bear with us. The in-person auditionees will be contacted after 12th January.
YOUTH MEMBERS
The character of Marky will be cast from our current registered youth group members and will be auditioned by invitation in February.

Characters:
Johnny "Rooster" Byron: Hedonist, opinionated, eccentric, ex-daredevil and teller of fantastically improbable stories, he has a young son whom he rarely sees. He lives in a caravan in the local woods. He holds parties where he gets drunk and supplies drugs. Big fish in a small pond. Man or myth? (S)
Ginger: Underdog of the group, he is older than the others who hang around with Johnny, never having grown out of the lifestyle. He aspires to be a DJ, but is an unemployed plasterer. (S)
The Professor: Vague and whimsical yet kind, the elderly professor spouts philosophical nothings and unwittingly takes LSD.
Davey: Young teenage abattoir worker who is best friends with Lee, and visits Rooster regularly for free drugs and alcohol. He can't stand the idea of leaving Wiltshire. (S)
Troy Whitworth: Local thug. His stepdaughter Phaedra goes missing - violent and uncompromising.
Lee: Young teenager. Plans to emigrate to Australia the next day, despite having little money. (S)
Phaedra: The reigning May Queen, Troy's stepdaughter is seen at the beginning of both Acts One and Two singing the hymn "Jerusalem" and dressed in fairy wings. She is said to have disappeared.
Pea and Tanya: Two local girls who hang out at Johnny's, partying (S)
Dawn: Johnny's ex-girlfriend and mother to son Marky. Although she disapproves of his life, she is drawn to him despite him continually letting her and Marky down.
Marky: Johnny's six-year-old son.
Wesley: The local pub landlord, he is involved in the festivities for St George's Day and has been roped into doing morris dancing. Tries to keep his nose clean but likes to party.
Linda Fawcett and Luke Parsons: Council officials charged with evicting Johnny.
Frank Whitworth: Brother of Troy Whitworth
Danny Whitworth: Younger brother of Troy and Frank Whitworth
