Building Update: Lambeth Re-Purpose Grant progress

20 Feb 25

Progress made with the Re-Purpose Grant from Lambeth.

The Re-Purpose Grant from Lambeth that we reported in September 2024 is now being put to good use.  The grant has been kindly supplemented by a generous donation from one of our members.

The installation of the double glazing and the cleaning of the peeling paint from the facade of the building is now well under way.

As soon as the work is completed, we will be asking for some feedback on the improvements, so please look out for that in the next few weeks.

Double Glazing

You may have noticed that we have new double glazing in both the Kit Room and the Fly Loft.  This will improve heat retention and reduce street noise in both of these rooms. We are still waiting for a bit more glass to arrive before we can seal the ‘spare’ doors in the foyer, which will also hopefully reduce the heat loss from this area.

Just as a reminder:

Please don’t increase the radiators above the ‘max’ value in the rooms, details are in each room.  If you do, then we waste a lot of energy, as these rooms heat up too much, while others stay cold.

Facade Cleaning

The work to remove the peeling paint from the building facade has begun. This will restore the building back to its original state of unpainted brickwork.

The work was slightly delayed due to the water supply problems we had in West Norwood, but fortunately those have now been resolved. It is expected to be complete in the next three weeks.
