Volunteer at SLT

SLT is run entirely by its members across every function. If you are a current Full Member and you have an evening to spare once a month, want to escape the television on a weekly basis or simply might just occasionally wish to support a show by volunteering, then please read on and get involved. There are often incentives such as free drinks and tickets to sweeten the deal.

On this page you can sign up for a volunteering spot, check out any volunteering news, and soon you'll be able to watch one of our volunteering videos so you can understand more about what's involved or how to perform key tasks.

The more members who volunteer, the fewer volunteering spots anyone needs to do. We'd love you to do as much or as little as you like to keep us running.

The full range of volunteer roles

Bar

Volunteering behind our members' bar is vital to the atmosphere at SLT. The role is simple and social with no need for mental arithmetic or technical ability.

Box Office

Be the welcoming face of SLT. With most tickets bought in advance online, box office ensures everyone who can and should, gets to see the show.

Front Of House

If you can offer a friendly greeting and offer up a programme, you can be the shepherd that keeps the audience flock safe and ensures their enjoyment.

Raffle

For most shows we run an in-house Raffle to raise money for the theatre. If you are comfortable engaging with people to promote raffle ticket sales and support our theatre, then this is the role for you.

Wardrobe

Even if you're not a Sewing Bee aficionado, wardrobe could use your help managing our huge and fascinating catalogue of clothing and apparel.

Sets And Props

You could be unscrewing a cross-head or wrangling a polar bear paw, the opportunities around set construction and props are endless.

Technical

Every show needs lights and sound, both rigging and operating. Be the one to ensure audiences aren't sitting in the dark listening to the actors breathing.

Backstage

Actors will misplace props, miss their cues and wear the wrong costume. Be the steadying hand behind the scenes as a stage manager or their assistant.

Publicity

We don't really have a show if no one knows about it. If you've time to tweet, design a poster or help at events, we'd love to have you on the team.
